

23-time Grand Slam Champion Serena Williams will pick up her racket for the last time at the US Open. One of the most successful tennis stars of her generation, she has also performed on the highest level throughout her over two-decade-long career. After competing at Flushing Meadows, she will depart from the tennis world and focus on her family. The American tennis star talked about her plans to retire in the September edition of Vogue.

Following the release of the issue, word of her retirement plans spread like wildfire. Keeping in mind Williams‘ popularity, the overwhelming support she experienced did not come as a surprise.
One of her supporters is a legend in his own respect and sport, Lewis Hamilton. The Mercedes man shared a story on his Instagram with the Vogue cover and captioned it, “Such an icon!! Queen!! GOAT!! We love you @serenawilliams.”

Safe to say, Hamilton left no stone unturned to show his appreciation and support for the retiring tennis star.

The seven-time F1 champion, among others, shared their tribute to the post that Serena Williams shared on her Instagram. In the post, she wrote, “There comes a time in life when we have to decide to move in a different direction… But now, the countdown has begun. I have to focus on being a mom, my spiritual goals, and finally discovering a different, but just exciting Serena.”
The new and exciting aspect of Williams could be the one she momentarily embarked on with Lewis Hamilton not so long ago.

The tennis ace, along with Lewis Hamilton, decided to bid for the on-demand and for-sale Chelsea FC. The two business moguls pledged a certain amount to the consortium of Sir Martin Broughton for the takeover. Unfortunately, the bid didn’t win, and the two lost out on a chance to become part owners of the club.

However, with Williams’ venture capital company and Hamilton’s itch to invest, we’re sure the two will cut a ribbon together in the future.
