The Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev is through to the quarterfinals of ATP Rotterdam with a 7-5 6-3 win over Alexander Bublik. Upon reaching quarterfinals of the Dutch tournament, Rublev posted on Instagram “Into the quarterfinal.”
To that post, the German ace Alexander Zverev made a comment and predicted his future on the ATP Tour. He mentioned, “Top ten by the grass-court season,” on Rublev’s post.
Following that, the Canadian sensation Felix Auger-Aliassime supported Sascha’s opinion. He commented, “Zero doubt” and feels that Rublev will quickly crack into the top-ten ATP rankings.
Andrey Rublev is presently ranked number 15 in the world. If the 22-year-old Russian wins the ATP Rotterdam tournament he has the chances to crack into the top-ten roster, provided the present World Number 10 Gael Monfils underperforms in the Rotterdam event.
“Andrey Rublev will be Top 10 very soon” – Alexander Zverev
This year, Rublev made a successful start of the season. He captured the title in Adelaide and flew to Melbourne with positive energy. At the Australian Open 2020, the young lad attained his best performance in the tournament.
He reached the fourth round of the major event after defeating 11th seed David Goffin. Later he fell to the eventual semifinalist Alexander Zverev. It was Rublev’s only loss of the season so far. Post Sascha’s win in Melbourne, Zverev immediately mentioned that Rublev will soon crack into the top-ten rankings.
“It feels amazing,” said Zverev. “I played some great matches against some great opponents. This is Andrey’s first loss of the season, having won two tournaments and getting through to the fourth round with unbelievable tennis. I’ve known Andrey since we were 10 years old… I think he will be Top 15, Top 10 very soon. I’m just happy and I hope I can continue.”
They are friends with each other since the age of ten.
In the Netherlands, Rublev will next play Filip Krajinovic for a place in the semifinals. “It’s amazing. I like this tournament. For me, this is one of the best indoor tournaments. This is my third year in a row(playing in Rotterdam) and I always enjoy to come here… So I like everything here,” Rublev said.
