Diego Schwartzman Announces Sad News at Buenos Aires Classic 2020

It was a gloomy day for Argentinean tennis as their number one player Diego Schwartzman withdrew from the semifinals of his home tournament, Buenos Aires Classic 2020. 27-year-old Schwartzman hasn’t really experienced many injuries throughout his 10-year-old service to the ATP Tour.
But unfortunately on Saturday, he was compelled to step out from his home-soil tournament due to a right leg injury. This can be termed as the first-ever injury of his career, and fortunately, Diego’s injury isn’t too serious.
During Rio Open 2019, he retired in the middle of his first-round match due to an injured right leg, but he didn’t really call it an injury back then.

For the moment, he is ruled out from the ATP Tour until Indian Wells 2020. He wouldn’t be seen on the professional circuit before the Californian event. World Number 14 Diego Schwartzman had bright chances of making his debut into the ATP’s top-ten in Buenos Aires. But his withdrawal has delayed his ingress in the premier-ten rankings column.
Schwartzman seemed to be determined for his first title on the home turf during his quarterfinal match on Friday. He played a thrilling three-hour and 42-minute long match against the Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas.
The Argentine saved four match points and won 5-7, 7-6(11), 7-5 against Cuevas in the last-eight round.

In 2020, Diego Schwartzman began his season with a match win at ATP Cup. Later, he reached the fourth round of the Australian Open and fell to the eventual champion Novak Djokovic. Then a few days later he reached the finals at Cordoba Open. Over there, he lost to Cristian Garin in the three sets.
The Portuguese tennis player Pedro Sousa was given a walkover in the semifinals as Schwartzman pulled out. Simultaneously he moved into the finals of Buenos Aires Classic. This week, Sousa earned his spot in the main draw as a lucky loser.
