Rising star from Canada, Felix Auger-Aliassime achieved his career best-run at a Grand Slam by entering the pre-quarterfinals at the US Open 2020. Felix lost to the eventual champion Dominic Thiem in straight sets. Later in the month of October, Felix reached the finals at ATP Cologne and was defeated by home-favorite Alexander Zverev.

After having a successful 2020 season, Auger-Aliassime has decided to terminate his coaching league with his long-term coach Guillaume Marx. They were together for the past six years, but unfortunately, now their partnership has been concluded.

“I’ve recently decided to part ways with my long term coach Guillaume Marx. Our collaboration ends in the utmost integrity and respect for one another,” posted Felix Auger-Aliassime. “In the last six years, I have had the chance to work with a coach that was passionate and devoted entirely to my career and the success of my project.” 

Under Marx’s tutelage, Felix made his breakthrough on the ATP circuit by reaching the finals in Rio as an 18-year-old. With that, his rankings skyrocketed.

The young Canadian became the youngest player to enter the top 25. As now of, he has made it to six ATP finals and is yet to claim his ATP title. It would seem like Felix owes the success and fame to his ex-coach, Marx.

“He helped me develop as a tennis player and a person regardless of the many challenges we faced along the way. He is a big reason why I’m now at this stage of my career and that’s why I think we can be proud of what we’ve accomplished together,” the Montreal native further added. “On top of it all, he has taught me fundamental values that will serve me for the rest of my life. And that for me, is priceless.”

Felix will continue working with coach Frederic Fontang and there won’t be any changes to his present team. Former player Marx also coached Felix’s compatriot and Wimbledon finalist, Milos Raonic.
