“It is Very Boring to See Players Like Roger Federer” – Former Australian Open Finalist

The liege lords of tennis Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic have been dominating the sport for more than 15 years now. Their dominance his not letting the past few and the upcoming generations of tennis to pull off the Grand Slam trophies.

The best part being, the tennis world simply enjoys watching them play and the fan base of the trio remains the biggest in the sport. However, some experts believe that it’s ‘boring’ to see their faces again and again and they look forward to having a new major champion.

Former World Number one and Australian Open 1998 finalist Marcelo Rios from Chile mentioned that it’s very boring’ watch Federer play again and again.

“Nowadays I do not entertain myself watching tennis, it is very boring. Many say that it is very boring to see players like Andy Murray and Roger Federer. It is not a great thing, but they do play very well,” he said.

“I am one of those who think that it is more important to be No. 1 in the world than to win a Grand Slam, because of the situations that I experienced first-hand,” Rios told Uploaded to the Network while he was in conservation with Javi Frana and Alex Corretja.

Former Chilean player Rios further shared, he’d love to face the ferocious player Nadal as he draws parallels with his playing style.

“His (Rafael Nadal’s) uncle Toni said I could beat him but I never said something like that. What I had said to Toni is that I believe that when I was at my greatest, I would have complicated things for him, and Toni agrees with me. Rafael Nadal is the player I wish to face today,” he added.

Roger Federer calls off 2020 season

Talking about Roger Federer he has called off his 2020 season and will be undergoing another knee surgery. The tennis tour will be restarting on August 14, with no or limited fans in the stadium. With the tour restarting Federer might drop out of the top five ATP rankings.
