“Meddy the Master”: Daniil Medvedev Defeats Reilly Opelka to Claim His 4th ATP 1000 Title at National Bank Open 2021

The Top seed Daniil Medvedev lived up to his expectations as he beats Reilly Opelka in a heated battle to claim his 12th ATP title at the National Bank Open in Canada. The Russian took the perfect boost ahead of the US Open by beating Opelka 6-4 ,6-3.

Set 1

The opening set started with Opelka attacking Medvedev in the second game. The American player held two break points in Medvedev’s first service game but could not convert it into a break.

As the set progressed, The top seed of the tournament did not let his initial mistake get repeated again. He successfully broke Opelka’s serve in the fifth game of the set. In the end, the Russian player comfortable took the first set by having a much better win percentage on both 1st and 2nd serve than Opelka.

Set 2, Daniil Medvedev seizes the Candian Master s title

Opelka started withholding the first game of the set. Eventually, Medvedev used the momentum from the first set and out rallied Opelka to break his serve in the third game. Reilly gave a tough fight in the later half of the set as he fought hard to hold his serve in the seventh game of the set.

Opelka tries his level best to get the better of the current world no.2.The sheer determination of Daniil was good enough to shatter his dreams to win the Canadian Title.
