Novak Djokovic Agrees With Rafael Nadal’s Underarm Service Stance

World Number one Novak Djokovic equaled his arch-rival Roger Federer’s record on Thursday by winning his 70th match at Roland Garros and simultaneously reserved his spot in the third round of French Open 2020. And with another win on the Court Philippe-Chatrier, Novak will be pushing Roger down to the third spot and take the second place on the list players with the most number of wins at Roland Garros.

On Thursday, the Serbian ace took 83 minutes to sweep aside Ricardas Berankis from Lithuania, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2, and dropped just seven points in the opening set.

Post his smooth win in the second round in Paris, Novak reflected on the diminished tactic of tennis, the underarm serve. On Wednesday, his nemesis Rafael Nadal had faced one of those during his second round encounter against Mackenzie McDonald. Rafa had later stated that it’s not at all disrespectful, rather an excellent tactic.

Having heard Rafa’s words, Novak completely agrees with everything the Spaniard said.

Up next, Novak Djokovic is will be taking on Colombia’s Daniel Elahi Galan in the third round of French Open 2020. Galan had straight-set victories in the qualifiers and had dismissed Great Britain’s Cameron Norrie in five sets in the first round. Following his uphill battle in the opening round, he steamrolled over USA’s Tennys Sandgren in three sets in the second round.
