Former Wimbledon finalist Milos Raonic was recently in conversation with CNN. He reflected upon the weird-state of the world and the suspension tennis tour. He is certainly not happy with how things are carried out.

Coronavirus pandemic has disarrayed the tennis calendar 2020. Along with a string of tournaments, the most prestigious event Wimbledon got canceled for the first time since 1945.

However, French Open 2020, has been rescheduled in the month of September. All changes taking place on the circuit were communicated to the players via social media.

ATP did have any personalized medium for contacting the tennis professionals or sending them a personalized notification. They learned about the changes on the tour via social media platform, which is not at all professional and Milos Raonic raised his voice against that.

Statement by Milos Raonic

“There was just a disappointment maybe of the approach. I think a few players wished they knew a little bit earlier before. I figured it out through social media, and I’m sure many others did,” said World Number 30 Raonic.

“We have a big group chat and that’s how it came out to all of us. So I think that was maybe the hardest part of it to accept. But once you got over that I think the understanding of, is it a positive thing for us? It is. That’s for sure.”

In Raonic’s opinion no matter how difficult the times are sport is an integral part of one’s life. He does want to pick up his tennis racquet, but simultaneously he shows is concerns towards the pandemic and well being of the society.
