After two tennis players, Grigor Dimitrov and Borna Coric were tested positive for coronavirus after attending the Adria Tour event hosted by Novak Djokovic on Monday, and on the same day World Number 184 Viktor Troicki became the latest victim to be infected by the deadly virus.
Also, Dimitrov’s coach, Chris Gro, and Djokovic’s fitness coach, Marko Paniki, all of them have been tested positive for coronavirus.
Viktor Troicki tests positive for coronavirus
Troicki took part in the opening edition of the Adria Tour in Belgrade, Serbia between June 12-14. His pregnant wife, who is expected to deliver their child in a few weeks has also been tested positive.
“It is true that my wife and I are positive. She was tested on Friday and my daughter and I on Sunday after we found out she was positive. My daughter is negative, and my wife and I are positive,” Troicki said. Troicki and Djokovic are really good friends. Recently at ATP Cup, they played doubles together and did not drop a match in the event.
After the cancelation of the Adria Tour finals in Croatia, Marin Cilic, and Alexander Zverev self-isolated themselves after they were tested negative. All of the tennis players were in close contact with each other. Also, they did not abide by the rules of social distancing.
Earlier on Monday, ATP Tour sent their recovery wishes to players infected by the coronavirus. Also, they will be resuming the tour in mid-August and will be imposing strict regulations.
“The ATP wishes a complete and quick recovery for the ATP players and members of their staff who tested positive for COVID-19 following involvement in the Adria Tour exhibition tournament. The ATP continues to urge strict adherence to responsible social distancing and health and safety guidelines to contain the spread of the virus,” ATP Tour stated.
World Number one Novak Djokovic has also being tested for coronavirus, and his results will be disclosed on Tuesday.
