Who could forget the iconic scene at one of the press conferences of BNP Paribas Open in 2014! Former World No.3 Grigor Dimitrov had an unexpected visitor. Excitement is undoubtedly multiplied by 1000 times when the visitor is none other than the World No.1 Novak Djokovic. Not only did the 17-time Grand Slam winner stunned everyone, but he also talked about his good relations with Dimitrov. It was a cheerful moment as both the players shared a laugh.
“I was something that I had to deal with incorporate the best possible way,” told Dimitrov in the press conference when he suddenly looked sideways and then burst into laughter.

It was Djokovic, who is often known for his pranks and his sarcasm. But, everyone was stunned when he decided to interrupt the press conference of Dimitrov to share a light moment. More than 6 years have gone by. Yet, the scene is still fresh in the memories of fans. It was something unusual, surprising, and remarkable indeed.
“I was something that I had to deal with incorporate the best possible way,” told Dimitrov in the press conference when he suddenly looked sideways and then burst into laughter.
The next moment we saw a man arranging the chair on his right side, he sat down, smiled, and then took his arm to the shoulder of Dimitrov. It was Djokovic and the incident was enough to know about their friendship.

“And we have Grigor here, a great friend and the best looking guy on the court,” began an enthusiastic Djokovic.
“Don’t talk about success here, you already had lots. Let’s talk about your looks,” said Djokovic, and both started guffawing.
It was at this moment that Djokovic decided to move aside and rather join media persons to ask questions. Dimitrov asked Djokovic to join him again and sit beside him. But, the Serbian did not join again.

The Press conference moved ahead and Dimitrov was asked about his friendship with Djokovic.
“Oh! You could see that. He’s a great guy off the court. We have a great relationship. We can actually speak a bit of the same language,” said the former World No.3
It was surely a remarkable scene. Sport is above victories and defeats. Sportsmanship is the key. It is light and healthy moments like these that are remembered for long. It has been 6 years and fans still have good memories of this anecdote.

As of now, 6 years later, both Dimitrov and Djokovic are in the quarters of Italian Open 2020. While Djokovic is due to face Dominic Koepfer, Dimitrov will meet Denis Shapovalov in the quarter-final of the tournament.
