“Will Be Different Next Time”: Aryna Sabalenka Sends a Stern Warning to Serena Williams

At the 2021 Australian Open, fans witnessed an extraordinary encounter between Serena Williams and Aryna Sabalenka. Both players were competing fiercely and in the end, it was the American who came out on top.

This was the first-ever meeting between the 2 players and hence, recently, Aryna was asked about her expectations. She said,

“Well, you know, because everyone keep talking about Serena, Serena is coming back, like she is the queen and all this stuff. This is kind of I know in experience, you know, because I never play her and I didn’t know what to expect from her.”

“To be honest, for the last few years, I haven’t been watching her matches, like really sitting there and watching what she is doing.”

Aryna Sabalenka On Next Match Against Serena Williams

Aryna Sabalenka was very close to beating Serena in their encounter in Melbourne. In fact, she had the upper hand after winning the second set but Serena rallied through and won 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. After this loss, the Belarusian is eager to get her revenge.

“This is what I am saying, like, it was different. Now I know what to expect from her and now I know where is her level. Yeah, I think, yeah, It will be different next time.” said Sabalenka.

It looks like fans might see another competitive encounter between Sabalenka and Serena. However, the big question is – when is that going to happen? The answer depends on which events Williams decides to play as she hasn’t revealed her schedule yet.

Until then, fans can enjoy watching Sabalenka as she returns for the Qatar Open this week. Tomorrow, she will be facing 2-time Major Champion Garbine Muguruza, whom she beat in Beijing back in 2018. As both players are in incredible form, their upcoming match will be very interesting and no one should miss it.
