In a thrilling encounter, World No. 1, Ashleigh Barty faced Czech International, Karolina Pliskova, in the 2021 Wimbledon Championship Final. The much-anticipated game lived up to its expectations as both women were out for blood right from the first swing.

However, a game of this intensity would be a test of strength and character. In order to make it to the top, one would have to not only outplay the other but outsmart them too.

Bringing her A-game to the court, Ashleigh Barty put on a world-class performance. The Australian played some of her best tennis ever as she dominated the game right from the start.

Despite an incredible fightback from her opponent, she managed to maintain her composure and continue controlling the game. In a third and final set, Ashleigh played with her heart on the sleeve. Within touching distance from the trophy of her dreams, Ashleigh fell to the ground after playing her match point, knowing well enough that she made it.

From stands to Twitter, the world was in awe of Ashleigh as they watched her live her dream, getting crowned as the well-deserved champion. People from all across the globe took to social media to express their love and admiration for the Wimbledon winner.

Former Australian legend, a Wimbledon Champion herself, and Ashleigh’s Idol, Evonne Goolagong, reacted to Ash’s historic win in a rather wholesome video.

Exactly 50 years ago, on the same day, Evonne won the Wimbledon Championship for the first time. Following in her footsteps, Ashleigh couldn’t have done it at a better time, in better style. “So very very, much proud of Ash”, she said.

So very very much proud of Ash, the way she handles herself, not just on the court but off the court too. She’s a great Australian, everybody loves her.
