She said, “So for me to then all of a sudden meet an American in my hometown in Belgium, that has about 10,000 people who had no clue who I was, didn’t really follow tennis as the only person he knew was Anna Kournikova. So, yeah, so it was very refreshing to me.”

Her husband’s lack of connection with tennis helped them cultivate a relationship that was not entirely based on their careers. In previous interviews, she revealed the immense amount of support she has received from her husband and how it has encouraged her to flourish in her career.

Clijsters said, “And, and, and that my connection to the United States has always been great. It’s been great on the court. It’s been, I love traveling to America, and the meeting people and I’ve met friends throughout the years on tour and, and now to live in the States it feels, you know, it feels good.”

Kim Clijsters further appreciated the facilities children get in schools. She also talked about how she wants her kid to grow up in the USA with those facilities. She said, “And so for Yeah, I love the fact that you’re in the States, you know, whatever a kid’s talent is it gets, they get a chance to develop it in school, and a lot of teachers support it.”

Meeting the love of her life outside the field of tennis has made Kim Clijsters’ husband an ‘ideal’ partner for her. Hence, with a refreshing touch to it, Clijsters is now devoted to enjoying her newfound life in America with her husband and kids.
