Canadian professional tennis player Eugenie Bouchard managed to reach the second round of qualifying for the ITF USA 40A tournament. She defeated Alexa Glatch 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of qualification. But the 26-year-old suffered an abdominal injury in the second round of qualification against Katie Volynets. She lost the first set 4-6 and was also losing the subsequent set 0-3 when she suffered the injury.

The former World No.5 Bouchard was not looking confident throughout her match. She was losing points and doing too many unforced errors. She won only four games out of a total of thirteen games.

Initially, the injury didn’t seem too big, but after the doctors arrived it became evident that Bouchard was in pain. She ultimately decided to withdraw from the match, giving Volynets the victory.
