“I am trying to send a message, our system is broken, and racial injustice still exists and that’s crazy. We shouldn’t be living in a world like that. So I thought to send a message and do my part because this is important.”

In 2020, Anisimova reached the semifinals in Auckland and retired from the pre-quarterfinals of Qatar. She was upset in the first round at the Australian Open, and later at Dubai Open. She recently participated in the MyUTR exhibition series in Florida.

I believe we have a future leader, role model, and activist at the young age of 16, she is showing up in the fight against racial prejudice. She could champion human rights and still be a champion in tennis. I believe she can be an inspiration and do it all,” Evert addressed Gauff.
