The 36-year old German has had attained some success by winning 8 titles and reaching a career-high ranking of world no. 16. However in the last few years, has not been able to play his best tennis consistently.

The American has had a successful career by winning a total of 7 grand slams. She has also won 49 singles titles, she trails only her sister among active players on the WTA Tour with most singles titles.
Feliciano Lopez
Feliciano Lopez has won 7 titles through out his career and has reached a career-high ranking of world no. 12. He holds the record for most consecutive appearances at Grand Slams which is right now at 71.
Fernando Verdasco
Fernando Verdasco has won a 7 titles throughout his career and has reached a career-high ranking of world no. 7. He has challenged some of the best tennis players. In the 2009 Australian Open he played a five-hour thriller against fellow countryman Rafael Nadal.
Maria Sharapova
Maria Sharapova being on this list might be a surprise to a lot of people. She is a five-time Grand Slam Champion and she is only 32 years old so why would she retire?

After an elbow injury forced him to call off his season in October 2019, Kei Nishikori seems to have lost hope of ever coming back. He is skeptical about his appearance at AO 2020 and he himself said that he is close to retirement.
Andy Murray
The three-time grand slam winner had hip injury that put him out for nearly 2 years. At the start of this year he announced he would be retiring but after a successful surgery he has hit the courts again. He has shown signs of form by winning the European Open beating Stan Wawrinka in 3 tight sets.

She is one of the most decorated female athletes. She has won an astonishing 23 Grand Slam singles titles, 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and has held the world no. 1 spot for 319 weeks. After childbirth, Serena has reached the finals of Majors but has not won them.

He is arguably the most popular player on tour. He has won a record 20 Grand Slams, has held the world no.1 ranking for 310 weeks and has won over 1200 matches. His retirement will be the saddest.
