If Roger Federer takes part in all the four Grand Slams in 2016, he will equal France’s Fabrice Santoro record of the most Grand Slam appearances(70) in the tennis history. Santaro, though, had a prolonged career, but was never as successful as Federer. Playing tennis since his childhood days, Federer has been Switzerland’s most successful sportsperson and also the first Swiss man to win a singles Grand Slam title.

2. Career Grand Slam Oppurtunity

Serbia’s no 1, Novak Djokovic can become the 5 player to complete Career Grand Slam i.e. winning all the four majors once, if he manages to win the French Open next year. And with Rio Olympics also taking place next year, he has the chance to be the 3player in Open Era to win a Career Golden Grand Slam ( 4 majors + Olympic gold ) after Andre Agassi and Rafa Nadal. With the kind of year he had, where he won 3 out of the 4 Grand Slams on offer, it is evident that he’ll complete his Career Grand Slam sooner or later. With his current form,  he has the possibility to win all the Grand Slams in 2016 and complete a Calendar Slam for the first time in men’s singles since Rod Laver in 1969 in Open era.

3. Record Grand Slam Titles

Just like Djokovic, Serena Williams had one hell of a year, winning three Grand Slams in 2015. She missed out on a historic calendar Grand Slam which she fondly called , when she was knocked out by Italy’s Roberta Vinci in the US Open.

Williams has now won 21 Grand Slam singles titles. Looking how dominant she has been over the years, she, evidently, will overhaul the German legend Steffi Graf (22) in number of Singles Grand Slams won in Open era in 2016. Also, she needs one more US Open crown to be the player with most US Open Titles, thereby, surpassing her fellow country woman Chris Evert.

4. The Indian Legend on brink of another record

Just like Djokovic and Williams, Leander Paes won three Grand Slams in mixed doubles category in 2015. As soon as he decided to partner with the Swiss legend, Martina Hingis, there was no looking back as he won three mixed doubles Grand Slam titles with her. In this fashion, the 42-year-old also passed his former doubles partner, Mahesh Bhupathi, as the most successful mixed doubles champion in the Open Era with nine Grand Slam titles. Paes is now only behind legendary Martina Navratilova, who won 10 mixed doubles trophies. Also after winning his 4th Wimbledon mixed doubles title, Paes now shares the record for most such titles won in the gentlemen’s section in the Open Era with Owen Davidson.

5. Most ATP 1000 tournaments

ATP World tour Masters 1000 is the collection of 9 annual tournaments. They are the most important after the Grand Slams and the year-end championships. It is impossible to keep the Djoker away from breaking records. After winning a record 6 out of the possible 9 ATP 1000 Masters in 2015, Djokovic can overhaul Rafa Nadal’s record of most ATP World tour Maters 1000. Rafa Nadal has 27 titles followed closely by Djokovic on 26, and then by Federer on 24.

6. Nadal on cusp of another record

The Spanish star, after having a subdued 2015, will hope to shake it off in the coming year. Clay being his favorite surface, three more wins for the Spaniard on clay and he will overtake Argentina’s  Guillermo Vilas for most clay titles (49)in Open Era.

7. Pete Sampras Grand Slam Record in Danger

Rafa Nadal, currently, stands tied with Sampras on the number of singles Grand Slam titles(14)  in the Open Era. Out of those 14, nine have come on clay. Nadal didn’t have a very good 2015 and has not been the same player ever since his return after the recurring knee injury. He lost his touch, his golden forehand which used to trouble opponents, his ability to fight back on his return. Therefore, he was unable to win any Grand Slam for the first time in the past 10 years, and his rank plummeted to 7 by the end of ATP Tour Finals. Having said that, it is impossible to count him out as a Grand Slam contender next year, albeit he will turn 30 during the French Open.

So will he win another grandslam and break Pete Sampras’ record?

8. Most Wimbledon Singles Titles

Federer has won 7 Wimbledon titles which is a joint all time record with William Renshaw and Pete Sampras. He can emulate it by winning on his favourite surface in 2016.

9. Maximum career prize money

After having a phenomenal 2015 , where he won three Grand Slams, became only the 3rd man to reach all 4 major finals (after Rod Laver and Roger Federer), winning a record 6 Masters 1000 tournaments, reaching 15 consecutive finals, a record 31 top 10 match victories and earning a record breaking amount of prize money and winning the year end ATP tour finals, Djokovic overtook Nadal in the total career Prize Money and is now only $3 million behind the ultimate tennis legend Roger Federer. If he does have a successful 2016, he will surpass Federer in having the maximum career prize money quite easily.

10.   Some equalizing records on the Djoker’s radar

The records which the Serb can emulate in the coming year do not cease to end. However, there are two records which he may equal in the coming year.

He can start that by winning the 2016 Australian Open. Having already won five Australian Open titles, the highest in Open Era, Djokovic can equal Roy Emerson’s all time Australian Open title record(6).

Also, if Djokovic manages to win the year end ATP World Tour finals in 2016 , he’ll equal Federer’s record of maximum ATP world tour titles (6).
