Rolex is considered to be one of the world’s most renowned watch brands. The company sponsors the likes of Roger Federer, Ana Ivanovic, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Caroline Wozniacki, Eugenie Bouchard, Garbine Muguruza and others. Now, more tennis stars have been signed by the Swiss brand.

On Instagram, Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov announced that he has become a Rolex ambassador. The Russian is joined by Greek sensation Stefanos Tsitsipas and British star Kyle Edmund.

Edmund and Tsitsipas penned a deal with the Swiss watchmaker back in 2018. “Today is an exciting chapter in my life. I am very honoured to announce my partnership with @rolex. I am looking forward to being part of this family which has a long tradition of excellence,” wrote Khachanov.

The 22-year old achieved a career-high ranking of 11 last year. This was on the back of winning his maiden Masters 1000 title at the Paris Masters. However, his 2019 campaign went off to a rough start. Khachanov has accumulated a 4-3 win-to-loss record so far in 2019. He made an appearance at the Sofia Open in Bulgaria last week but lost in the second round to Italy’s Matteo Berrettini.

At the Australian Open, he slumped to a third round defeat to Roberto Bautista Agut. Adding to that is the season-opener in Doha where he lost in the first round to Stan Wawrinka.

On the bright side, he won both his singles rubbers in the Davis Cup Qualifiers’ tie between Russia and Switzerland. As a result, he helped guide Russia to the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid, to be played in November.

Khachanov was playing at the ABN Amro Open in Rotterdam, Netherland this week. The Russian was named the second seed in the event, behind Kei Nishikori, the top-seed. Unfortunately, his 2019 season went from bad to worse as he lost to Dutch wildcard Tallon Griekspoor in the first round on Monday.
