WATCH: Nick Kyrgios Roots Against Novak Djokovic at ATP Cup 2020

Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic do not really share a friendly relationship. In May 2019, Kyrgios labeled the Serb ‘cringeworthy’ referring to his post-match celebrations on No Challenges Remaining podcast. On Monday during the ATP Cup 2020’s heated doubles action between France and Serbia, Kyrgios was present in Brisbane’s stadium.

Novak Djokovic was in tandem with Viktor Troicki. The duo were battling against the French pair Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Nicolas Mahut. The Australian Kyrgios was witnessed cheering for the team against Djokovic.

Kyrgios and Djokovic have met each other twice on the ATP courts. They played each other in Acapulco and Indian Wells.  Both the times, the Aussie brat won over the Serb in straight sets. According to Kyrgios, Novak doesn’t qualify for the Greatest of All Times (GOAT) status. As he said, “I’ve played him (Djokovic) twice and I’m sorry but if you cannot beat me, you cannot be the greatest of all time.”

Serbia vs France was a complete drama-filled encounter. The Serbs defeated the French 6-3, 6-7, 10-3 after 1 hour and 44 minutes. In the midst of the Djokovic availed a medical time out. He called the trainer to treat his right elbow at a non-changeover game at 1-1 in the second set. In the match, the French used VAR and declared Novak’s smash as foul since the racquet head crossed the net.

Meanwhile, Nick Kyrgios pulled out from his Sunday’s singles match in Brisbane. He was drawn to face Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime but his compatriot John Millman replaced him. Kyrgios was suffering from back issues which forced him to miss Sunday’s clash.

With Team Australia winning all their ties on Sunday, it moved them into the quarterfinals of ATP Cup 2020. On Tuesday the Australians will take on the Greeks. Until now team Australia and Spain haven’t dropped any matches at the ATP Cup 2020 tournament.
