Injuries have been a common feature in Serena’s 2021 season. Although she competed in all Grand Slam tournaments this year, she missed the Tokyo Olympics due to a leg injury. With less than two weeks left for the US Open, she will look to recuperate in time for the hard court Grand Slam.

On the other hand, Venus Williams looks well off her younger sister in the women’s singles category. While she also took part in all three Grand Slam tournaments, she faced very early exits and fell out of the Top 100.

Can Serena Williams clinch her seventh US Open this year?

Despite her World No. 20 ranking at the moment, one cannot disregard the chances of the 23-time Grand Slam champion. In fact, six of those have come at Flushing Meadows. Adding her seven Australian Open titles to that mix means she is one of the toughest competitors to beat on hard courts.

However, younger and fitter challengers await the American in the draw this year. Hence, her path to a record-extending 24th Grand Slam title looks much harder than before.
