Serena Williams is arguably one of the best tennis players in the world, if not the best. She has 23 Grand Slam titles to her name, and WTA has ranked her No. 1 for 319 weeks in total. Her husband, Alexis Ohanian, is an avid sports fan. While he is seen cheering for his wife from the stands in every match she plays, Ohanian is also interested in basketball, football and a myriad of other sports.

Recently, he posted an Instagram story congratulating Chloe Kim, an American Snowboarder, who made history at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Alexis Ohanian congratulates Chloe Kim for becoming Halfpipe Champion

Alexis Ohanian shared a post on his story, captioned it “way to go” and tagged Kim. The post elaborates on Kim’s journey to make her name in the history books.

At the 2018 Winter Olympics, 17-year-old Kim became the youngest woman to win a gold medal in snowboarding. In 2022, she added to that record by becoming the first woman to win two gold medals in halfpipe.

She is also a six-time X Games gold medalist and the first woman to win two gold medals in snowboarding at the Winter Youth Olympics.

However, things have not always been smooth running for the American youngster.

I was so proud of my accomplishment. But instead, I was sobbing in bed next to my mom, asking her ‘why are people so mean, because I’m Asian?‘” she once said, sharing her experience with discrimination.

In 2019, with issues of injury and deteriorating mental health plaguing her, she left the sport to go to college. Cut to 22 months later, she made her return to the sport, winning the X Games and the World Championships. Since then she hasn’t registered a loss yet.
