Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal has been out of action since his round of 16 exit from Washington Open. Nadal was still nursing an injury suffered during the clay season and announced that his 2021 season was over.

Recently, Rafael Nadal spoke about him wanting to return to the tennis courts. However, he was being realistic and felt that time is running out and that he may probably not be able to return in the same form as he was in during the earlier years.

On the subject, Nadal stated, “One has to be realistic, the clock is ticking, but I still have the illusion. I will fight to return.” Over the years, Rafa has been troubled by a number of injuries. Although, he has always found a way to bounce back to winning ways. With each passing year, his ability to repeat that becomes more and more uncertain.
Rafael Nadal has performed better in previous years
Nadal began his season in Australia and ended his stint in the quarterfinal after losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas. During that match, he was leading two sets to love before losing the next three sets. After that, he was seen directly during the clay season.

His first stop was Monte Carlo but did not manage to impress as he exited early. He won titles in Barcelona and Rome and was involved in thrilling encounters with Tsitsipas and Djokovic, respectively.
After that, he lost in the French Open and skipped the Wimbledon Championships along with the Tokyo Olympics. He has ended his season and wants to be back in better shape for the next season. We wish him a speedy recovery.
