Former World number 1 Kim Clijsters will continue her fairy tale as she has been confirmed as a participant for Indian Wells.

The Belgian tennis star has been given a wild card to play in one of the most prestigious hard court tournaments. Clijsters had made her return to tennis at the Dubai Tennis championships. Unfortunately, she was ousted in the first round itself by the Australian Open runner up Garbine Muguruza.

Interestingly, the 36-year-old has a good record at Indian Wells. She is a two-time champion, winning the trophy in 2003 and 2005. Clijsters last played at Indian Wells in the year 2011.

What Is the Comeback Story of Kim Clijsters? 

Kim Clijsters has always been the person who’s put the voice of her heart above everything else. Courtesy of that, she continuously shocks her fans by her surprise announcements.

Clijsters first retired from the sport in 2007. At that moment, she preferred to get married and have her first child. However, the Belgian star returned in 2009 and went on to win three of her four grand slams.

When it seemed like she was on top of her world, she again announced her retirement. This time, the stage was the US Open of 2012. Extending her family was once again the reason for her decision. Not surprisingly, other variables didn’t factor too much into her decisive way of thinking.

Finally, when everyone had counted her out, she announced in 2018, that she desires to make another comeback. Clijsters actualized her thought into action and graced the tennis court in Dubai.
