The Last of Us 2 Studio Shines in PlayStation’s Game of the Year Awards

The voting period for PlayStation’s Game of the Year awards in 2020 was quite short. Despite that, records broke with a total of over 2.5 million votes cast across all categories. This year, Naughty Dog‘s The Last of Us 2 bagged a number of trophies across different categories, most of which were platinum. However, the studio itself won one of the most prestigious awards the ceremony had to offer.

The Last of Us 2 was a very long-awaited sequel following the enormous success of the first installment. The gaming community welcomed and appreciated the game wholeheartedly, as we can see from the awards it won this year.

Naughty Dog’s 2020 release received immense appreciation from the gaming community. It took home awards in nine different categories in PlayStation’s Game of the Year Awards this year. This further establishes how much the community loved the game.

It also won Best New Character (Silver) for the character of Abby.

 Naughty Dog bagged the Studio of the Year award

Christmas came early this year for Naughty Dog Studio, as not only did their 2020 release win PS4 Game of the Year, they also won Studio of the Year. All the aspects of The Last of Us 2 made fans appreciate the development of the game at the studio level. Therefore, fans voted for them to win the most prestigious award for a studio.

Insomniac Games (Gold), Sucker Punch (Silver), and Square Enix (Bronze) were close contenders for this award.

PlayStation announced the winners for all the different categories in a blog post. Naughty Dog took to their official Twitter handle to thank their fans for this accolade soon after.
