ATP Chairman On The Revised 2020 Tennis Season
In a recent Q&A session published on the ATP’s website, Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi talked about the revised schedule. He admitted that the season was not ideal as he said,

“We realize that the resumption of the calendar is not perfect by any means – we would love to have more events and more playing opportunities, and more space between our marquee events to ease player scheduling.”
Many tennis players have said that tennis should start in 2021 due to the pandemic. So why has the ATP decided to go ahead with the tennis season in 2020? The ATP Chairman said,

“Our judgment was that we need to start somewhere and if we have tournaments at the top level that are able to run, and in a safe environment, providing earning opportunities not only for players but for the whole industry, well that’s a start.”

Many tennis fans were definitely happy to hear that the ATP Tour was returning. But there is still the possibility that it might not happen. This is because of the recent COVID-19 cases among tennis players which started at Novak Djokovic’s Adria Tour.
