Basketball superstar LeBron James has had a history of getting at US President Donald Trump. James has publicly made a few statements against Trump.
Very seldom has Trump given any response to his statements. But in 2018, when James, in an interview, spoke against Trump, the US President was quick to respond.
James told CNN during an interview that Trump was using sports to create division among people.

This was not the first negative claim by the NBA superstar. When the winner of the 2017 NBA season was to be invited to the White House, LeBron James, one of the finalists playing for Cleveland Cavaliers, said that neither of the teams were interested in going.
“I know no matter who wins this series no one wants the invite,” James had said before the 2017 NBA finals. “It won’t be Golden State or Cleveland going.”
After Golden State Warriors eventually became the champions, James once again voiced his support to Stephen Curry and his team for not paying a visit. In a tweet, LeBron said that visiting the White House was no longer an honour since Trump had become the president.
U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!

There have also been other incidents in the past where sports stars opposed the Government. In 2016, San Fransisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick refused to stand up for the national anthem in protest against a country that, according to him, “oppresses black people and people of colour.”
In an interview in January 2018 with Uninterrupted, James had some more for Trump, where he said: “The No. 1 job in America, the appointed person, is someone who doesn’t understand the people. And really don’t give a f— about the people.”
Trump, however, hasn’t been as vocal in expressing thoughts against LeBron James, until very recently. In fact, he has, many times in the past, praised the four-time NBA MVP.
Although from quite a while ago, here are a few tweets of the US President praising LeBron James.
Great shot by @KingJames yesterday. Lebron is a tough competitor who delivers under pressure.

Donald Trump finally has his say against LeBron James
After LeBron’s CNN interview claiming Trump to be dividing people on the basis of sports, the latter had a reply where he not only went against the LeBron but also against the interviewer, Don Lemon.
Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!

By saying “I like Mike,” Trump was referring to the age old debate of “Who is better between LeBron James and Michael Jordan?”
Many athletes and journalists, however, had come in support of LeBron James and Don Lemon.

Not long after, LeBron James took another opportunity to take a dig at Donald Trump.
When he was asked about the aforementioned interview by the Hollywood Reporter, James said: “That doesn’t bother me at all. What bothers me is that he has time to even do that. He has the most powerful job in the world. Like, you really got this much time that you can comment on me?”
