However, not all has been going good for the former world no 1. The only question that every sport asks is “What have you been doing for me lately?”

What Does Maria Sharapova Think About Her Return?

Maria Sharapova was fired up as she answered the media’s questions after arriving in Australia. She’s scheduled to play the Brisbane open before gearing up for the first grand slam of the year.

It’s a fresh start after a tough last season. There were a lots of ups and downs. It (shoulder)  has been about pain management that unfortunately in 2019 I was unable to handle. But I have had a fairly good offseason and I am motivated to compete. At this point in my career when I have that feeling, it’s a good sign.”

Sharapova further claimed that she has unfinished business on the tour, having won her last title in 2017. She opined that she never saw herself playing past 30.

I don’t think my surgically repaired shoulder will ever be perfect. But I still feel there is a lot in me to give. I still have a lot of fire in me.”

Maria Sharapova feels that if her shoulder allows, she still has a lot left to contribute to the sport.

Talking about the Brisbane open, Sharapova won the title back in 2008 when she was just 18. This time the tournament features a star-studded line up with 12 of the world’s top 20 players looking to practice before the Australian Open 2020.
