On their opening night of the 2019/20 NBA season, Golden State Warriors were given a taste of their own medicine. If you are used to watching the Golden State Warriors crushing the opponents in the last decade or so, it might be an end to it.
The movement in the off-season did give some insight into how the Warriors team would look going into the season, with the likes of Kevin Durant leaving the team and Klay Thompson out injured.
As the Warriors lost to Los Angeles Clippers with a scoreline that read 141-122, you know what you were anticipating has come true.

Speaking after the loss, Warriors coach Steve Kerr has also admitted the fact that they are no longer the team that they used to be and they have to live with it.
“This is not a one off. There’s going to be nights like this, this year,” Kerr said.
If Warriors losing Durant wasn’t enough, Thompson’s injury has made them more vulnerable. Their defensive fragility was clearly visible in the game, especially with Draymond Green going off the court due to injury.

“This is more the reality of the NBA,” Kerr admitted. “The last five years, we’ve been living in a world that’s not supposed to exist…Nine guys 23 or younger. We’re starting over, in many respects.”

With the Warriors already lacking in bench strength, two of their four most important player were injured on Thursday. Apart from an arm injury to Green, Kevon Looney had hamstring issues.
But the fact that the loss has come against a Clippers side, who have built a strong roster this season and have already beaten Los Angeles Lakers on the opening night, will keep Warriors confident enough to compete as well as humble enough to avoid complacency.
