Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes spoke out on ‘The Tonight Show’ starring Jimmy Fallon back in 2019. The MVP winner reminisced on the season’s playoff loss to the New England Patriots around 3 months prior. Mahomes gave some insight into events following the loss and on advice that has held him in good stead.
Patrick Mahomes was drafted to the league in 2017 where he would be the back-up QB to Alex Smith. Mahomes received his shot at the full time starting position after Smith was traded to the Washington Redskins. His first season as a starter would catapult the Chiefs franchise to new heights with consistent performances.

By the end of the season, Mahomes had broken QB records in the NFL and actualized the potential he had shown in college. Mahomes would become the 2 QB in league history to throw for 5000 yards and 50 Touchdowns. He also became the only QB in history to throw for 5000 yards in both the NFL as well as a college season.
The 2018 season was outstanding for Mahomes and the Chief’s, to say the least. The franchise saw themselves in their first home playoff game since 1993. The Patriots would clinch a ticket to the Super Bowl with an overtime victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

“During all the excitement, they won the game and we were walking off the field after that heartbreaking loss at home. I didn’t talk to him [Tom Brady] after the game and I was about to walk out. He came in actually, he got the security to let him in and he just said man you to a heck of a season”.

“He knows what it’s like to win a lot of big games, he also knows what it’s like to lose some big games. Not many but a few [laughs]. He just said that you gotta keep grinding and that he loved the way I played”.
In retrospect, it’s unsurprising to see that Tom Brady was right. Mahomes has gone on to be a tyrant for any defense that stands in his way.
