Former American Tennis star, Mardy Fish has taken to Twitter lately to express his solidarity towards US gymnast Simone Biles and Japanese Tennis star Naomi Osaka as the duo has received continuous criticism from the media lately.

Biles pulled out of an all-around gymnastics event over mental health issues. Many have been critical of the superstar athlete for her decision. But, this just pinpoints the ignorance among people about mental health furthermore.

The fact that any of these super athletes would pull out after getting close to their dreams without a serious cause behind it can’t just be the case. And Fish has pointed out that fact to the detractors.

“This is why people don?t take their mental health seriously. Do you honestly think she would just pull out of something she trained her whole life for because she lost?

“I wouldn?t expect you to understand an athlete?s perspective but this ain?t it,” wrote Fish while addressing the recent buzz surrounding Osaka and Biles at the moment.

“I?m so bummed with the responses on Simone and Naomi. As if Simone really wants to not compete. She?s spent her life training for these moments.

“I can?t comprehend how one could think the opposite. Blows my mind. But gotta get those clicks!” he had addressed previously on the topic.

Why have people been so critical of Simone Biles and Naomi Osaka?

Osaka had been the subject of criticism since her withdrawal from the French Open after the first round of the tournament this year. The Japanese superstar cause mistreatment from the media as the cause behind her decision. She also didn’t take part in the Wimbledon. And the early exit from the Tokyo Olympics 2020 didn’t help her cause.

Biles, on the other hand, had withdrawn midway through her event at the Olympics, claiming deteriorated mental health to be the reason.

An athlete of her status deserves to make decisions for herself and shouldn’t have to face any sort of backlash from others for that. So, Fish has been pretty much on point with his views on the topic.
