If there is one athlete who went through a world of emotions in the Tokyo Olympics, it’s Simone Biles. The 24-year-old arrived in the capital city carrying massive expectations after stunning the world in the Rio Olympics.

However, the recent Games didn’t turn out to be a repeat of 2016 for Biles. Midway through the team final, Biles lost awareness mid-air while performing on her speciality, the vault. After this incident, she withdrew from her individual finals but returned to perform in the balance beam final.

With a silver medal in the team event and a bronze medal in the balance beam event, Biles endured a turbulent time in Tokyo. However, with the Games now over, it’s time for all athletes to take a breather after two weeks of intense competition.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced the postponement of the Games by an entire year. Although Tokyo welcomed athletes from all over the globe to compete, organisers placed several protocols to ensure they could conduct the Games safely.

One of those protocols stated athletes need to leave the Olympic Village within 48 hours of their last competitive appearance in Tokyo. Hence, Biles returned home just before the weekend, and took the time to relax.

She took to Instagram to share a few posts summing up first few days since returning from Tokyo. In those posts, she spent time beside the pool along with a cocktail. Wearing a bikini with vivid colors, the decorated gymnast put out a caption which read, “Sweet like candy.”

Despite the 14-hour time difference between Tokyo and Texas, Biles seems to have shrugged off the effects of jetlag quickly. She also found time to attend her boyfriend, Jonathan Owens’ practice sessions, which she also posted.

Owens, who plays safety for the Houston Texans, will look to be fit for their first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers this Sunday.

With 19 gold medals, Biles has the most gold medals of any gymnast in the tournament. However, given the events that unfolded in Tokyo, it seems she could skip the tournament in order to prepare for the future, which includes the 2024 Paris Olympics.
