Tokyo Olympics 2020: Day Four Medal Tally Update- Japan and USA Lead

On day four of the Tokyo Olympics 2020, thirteen sports saw victory ceremonies. Team Japan is still leading the medal tally at the end of 28th July.
Sports that saw Olympians clinching medals were gymnastics, baseball, canoe slalom, cycling, diving, equestrian, fencing, judo, shooting, surfing, swimming, taekwondo, triathlon, and weightlifting.
While there are big names on the top of the tally, Kosovo, a rather small country with two gold medals, is ranking above nations like Italy. Bermuda, a small island nation, won its first-ever Olympic gold medal in Triathlon.

Japan leads with 10 gold medals at Tokyo Olympics
The host country has continued its top spot on day four. Japan has won 18 medals till now 10 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze. Even though the total count is less than USA and China, their gold medals are higher.
Japanese athletes continued their domination in judo sport by clinching gold medals. While they also won in archery and gymnastics.

Interestingly, their stellar run at the mega-event has increased support from local people. Earlier majority of Japanese people had been opposing the commencement of the Tokyo Olympics because of the pandemic.
USA’s medal tally at 25 medals
The USA is still one gold medal behind the host nation, making them stand in the second position. On the fourth day, the nation clinched the gold medal in surfing and swimming. While they also bagged medals in shooting, diving, equestrian, swimming, and gymnastics.
17-year-old USA swimmer Lydia Jacoby surprised everyone, including herself, by winning gold. Whereas in gymnastics team event Simone Biles had a shocking withdrawal. However, the team still clinched the silver medal.

China is in the third position with 21 medals (9-gold, 5-silver, and 7-bronze). On the day fourth, they clean swept the shooting and diving events by winning two gold medals.
ROC has climbed its way up on the medal tally at 4th position followed by Great Britain. Here is the list of medal tally after the fourth day of the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
