Team USA comes off a huge win against Iran in their second game of the Olympics. USA won in a dominant fashion with the final score 120-66. They were desperate for a win and finally succeeded in doing so. Team USA will face the Czech Republic next on Saturday.

Damian Lillard dropped 21 points in USA’s win against Iran. In addition, Devin Booker and Jayson Tatum combined for 30 points as well.

However, this win does not guarantee a path to the Finals. USA needs to win against the Czechs in order to qualify for the quarterfinals.

Lowe says USA is the best team

On an episode of The Jump, Zach Lowe backed up USA’s win and said that they should win because they are the best team in the Olympics. He said:

“I am not even going to try and do any of that math stuff about point differential and random choices. Let me simplify it all for you,we got the best team. This is the only time i get to say we, we got the best team, we should win.”

While he did agree that there are competing teams, he still believes Team USA has huge talent gap compared to other teams. With the entire team being NBA players, it is hard to justify that they are not the most talented team in the Olympics.

With players like Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard and Draymond Green, USA has a truckload of talent filled in their squad. However, teams have still managed to get the better of them because of their system of basketball. The rules for NBA and International basketball are different, so they will take time to adjust.

However, which other teams will be a challenge for Team USA?

Americans have Competiton

USA is not the only talented roster in the Olympics this year. There are quite a few teams who can give a mean competition to the stacked team of USA.

France is the first name that comes to mind after they crushed USA. With the defensive player of the year, Rudy Gobert, on their side, their defence is well taken care of.

Moreover, they are no less on the offensive end. We saw how Evan Fournier stepped up against USA. They also have Clippers’ Nicolas Batum on their roster.

Australia and Spain are also teams who have proved that they won’t back down. Even without Ben Simmons, the Aussies took a game against USA in their exhibition games. They also have an abundance of NBA players in their roster.

Spain is the second ranked team in the world right now. Headlined by the Gasol brothers, Spain has 8 players who have graced the NBA court. So, with the recent record of Team USA in mind, they are not the clear best team.
