Spiderman is a fan-favorite superhero and has had his share of games developed over the years. Remember the overly difficult Spiderman 3 back in 2007? Well, this one is nothing like it. Spiderman 2018 was launched after the MCU movie Spiderman: Homecoming. It follows the journey of our friendly neighborhood superhero, who fights his way to protect the city from being taken over by crime-lord, Mister Negative.

The game was highly appreciated for its combat and the open-world setting that was even compared to the Arkham series. The high-speed action and great storyline are what make this game truly great. A sequel is also announced for the same called ‘Spiderman Miles Morales’ for the PlayStation 5.

4. Horizon Zero Dawn

We have seen a lot of open-world games over the years. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt may be the best example of it.  But something about Horizon Zero Dawn’s post-apocalyptic world stands out. You play as Aloy, an outcast of the Nora tribe, in a world overrun by machine-animals. Bearing a striking resemblance to an Old world scientist, Aloy must uncover her past and embark on a quest to ensure life on earth is not extinguished again. Set in the 31 century, the game brought something entirely different to the RPG open-world genre. It is also one of PlayStation’s highest-selling exclusives of all time, with over 10.8 million copies sold. A sequel ‘Horizon Forbidden West’ is announced for the upcoming PlayStation 5.

3. God Of War 2018

Kratos is probably one of the most famous video game characters of all time. He thoroughly deserves to be too. God Of War’s first game was launched on PlayStation 2, way back in 2005, and the world was introduced to the ‘Ghost Of Sparta’- Kratos. Since then, there have been multiple games in the franchise, and God of War 2018 is the direct sequel to God Of War 3, where Kratos kills all the Olympians.

This game transitions from Greek Mythology to Norse Mythology, to our delight. The game’s OTS camera uses the one-shot method as opposed to a cinematic camera of other games. This game scores a perfect 10 in terms of story, combat, graphics, and dialogues as well. Kratos’ story was also awarded the Game Of The Year by many media houses. Furthermore, it sold around 10 million copies worldwide.

2. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

The fourth installment in Nathan Drake’s story makes it to No. 2 on our list. Released in 2016, this is PlayStation’s highest-selling exclusive of all time, with over 16 million copies sold. The story takes you on a quest to find pirate Henry Avery’s treasure. We see the original team of Nate, Sully, and Elena come together with the addition of Sam, Nate’s brother. Lies, betrayal, high-octane action sequences, breath-taking visuals, and puzzle-solving are what make this game so great. This game also revealed Nate’s true lineage. In the end, you see Nate and Elena open up their wardrobe of adventures to their daughter and you realize just how this game has been a huge part of your life.

(Spoiler Warning: The following entry contains spoilers)

A lot of people may argue about TLOU 2 making the top of the list but it thoroughly deserves to be here. For starters, it sold over 4 million copies in just 3 days. Fans had to wait over 7 years for this sequel, and it did not disappoint. The developer, Naughty Dog, was accused of false marketing by a lot of players, initially. The game also got a lot of hate for killing off Joel, one of the main characters, quite early in the game. But what people fail to see is how hauntingly beautiful the game is. The characters, visuals, dialogues, etc. is nothing short of a big-budget Hollywood movie, if not better. The audio experience of this game is exceptional, which was extensively explained by Sound Designer, Beau Anthony Jimenez recently. You can read more about it here.
