“Travelling and Quarantines Are Big Problems” – Roger Federer Speaks on Challenges in the Tennis World

Roger Federer ended his 2020 early. He played the Australian Open reaching the Semi-final but as the pandemic spread across the world tennis stopped. And then Federer got a knee surgery which rules him out for this year.

But the pandemic has eased a little bit and so like other sports, tennis is also making a comeback. The US Open will be the first Grand Slam in the resumption. Followed closely by the French Open. Both have different rules and protocols to combat the scare of the virus. So Federer even though he is not playing, he is taking good looks at the preparations and assessing them as well.

In a recent interview with SportsPanorama, Federer says he spoke to the US Open organizers. And got to know their further plans and protocols.

“For me not. If tennis is going to happen, that‘s what they try with the US Open. They are the next ones who have to say what will be. I just talked with them yesterday and they said they will decide between the 15th and end of the month. It will be interesting.” Federer said

Then he talked about the French Open. It was announced a few weeks ago that the French Open will allow 40-50 percent of fans this year. Federer finds it exciting and unbelievable.

“French Open said a few days ago they will allow half of a crowd which is unbelievable and also exciting. I think we are still in uncertain weeks and months for tennis but I hope it will come back at one point. Travelling and quarantine are big problems for us.” he said

The main concerns for the players are the quarantine and traveling between the US and Europe. And Federer also acknowledges that. Let’s see how players manage.
