With this victory, Rafael Nadal extends his lead against the world No. 1 Novak Djokovic to three majors and close the gap on Roger Federer’s all-time Grand Slam record of 20 titles with just one major tournament win away from equalling the record.

The victory also puts the Spaniard at 2,000 points lead in the race to end the season as a top-ranked player in the ATP rankings. The 33-year-old also continues the dominance of the ‘Big Three’ at the Grand Slam events, sharing the last 12 Grand slam titles among themselves.
