Dominic Thiem
Sixth seed Dominic Thiem produced some special tennis against below par Novak Djokovic, to knock the defending champion out, in straight sets. After a closely contested first set, Thiem had no trouble in hitting winners past the Serb’s defenses and wrapped up one of the biggest wins of his career. With this he makes his second consecutive RG semifinal and will face the nine time champion Rafa Nadal.
Here’s how the world of twitter reacted to what they witnessed.
Novak Djokovic will drop out of the world's top two for the first time since July 2011.

A year ago, Djokovic had won four straight Slams and made 23 of 24 Slam SFs.
All four titles go undefended, only once reaching SFs. #rg17

And this is where it all started off years ago… and now he has beaten and bagelled Djokovic. #Thiem pic.twitter.com/kbeDiZ1HqF

This is a crazy sport. 12 months ago Djokovic commanded all he surveyed. 12 months later he's slamless and in an arid mental wilderness.

Thiem successfully defended his Semi-Final points. Top 10 easily safe for the rest of the year. Could easily go higher, what a clay season.

Thiem: 38 winners to 28 unforced.
Djokovic: 18 winners to 35 unforced. (2 winners vs. 12 unforced in set three)

So. Rafa vs. Thiem for the semi. Poor little tennis balls… Gonna have the crap smashed out of them.

Well done Thiem, but that was just plain weird.
