Twitter Reacts as Sofia Kenin Wins Australian Open 2020

Sofia Kenin has won the 2020 Australian Open title by defeating Garbine Muguruza. The closely contested match went the distance, as both players split the first two sets. Ultimately though, Kenin’s mental strength proved a handy tool. She did not lose heart after Muguruza won the opening set. In fact, she took her game up a level, playing like a seasoned champion until the last point.

Sofia went on to dominate the second set and win it 6-2 to go level. She continued her domination in the deciding set to win the match 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. The contest lasted for 2 hours and 3 minutes. The match point was disappointing as Muguruza hit a double fault to give Kenin the win.
The young American served a commendable 74% of first serves in, winning 64% of those points. Muguruza did not help herself with 45 unforced errors and just 32 winners. Kenin, on the other hand, kept her game tidy with 28 winners and 23 unforced errors.
