The Chennai Super Kings showed why they were a force to be reckoned with by defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Sunrisers were put in to bat first and posted 179 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. well-struck half centuries for Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson put them on the right track. Their bowlers did their best to preserve their target but there was no stopping Chennai.

When the Super Kings came out to bat, Ambati Rayudu was the hero of the day. His unbeaten century steered the Yellow army to victory. But he didn’t do it alone, Shane Watson’s half-century and a 21-run cameo from skipper MS Dhoni ensured a sure-fire triumph. Off their bowlers, Shardul Thakur picked up 2 wickets along with 1 each for Dwayne Bravo and Deepak Chahar. Chahar had the best economy of 4.00 with just 16 runs given away in 4 overs, including a wicket.

With this win, CSK have more or less qualified for the IPL 2018 playoffs. The Sunrisers have already qualified as they are 2 points ahead of the Chennai Super Kings.

But it has to be said that it was a stellar knock from Rayudu.
