Andy Murray and Juan Martin del Potro produced another match for the ages, in the Davis Cup SF, inside a packed stadium at Glasgow. It was the Argentine who lasted in this marathon 5 hour encounter, winning 6-4 5-7 6-7(5) 6-3 6-4. Del Potro put an end to the 14 match winning streak of Murray in the Davis Cup and also broke his own losing streak of 7 five set matches.
“I’m so happy to be playing tennis again after three surgeries on my wrist. I could not imagine this moment. This kind of moment is what I missed when I had rehab. I always play well in Britain and very happy today.
I’m so tired, my legs are so tight but I will have a massage and be ready for tomorrow or the day after” , said the gentle giant.
