Argentine Juan Martin del Potro produced a range of scintillating shots on his way to a straight sets win over the top seed Novak Djokovic in the first round of Rio Olympics.
A tie that was eagerly looked up to ever since the draws came out, lived up to its billing and was an absolute delight to witness, not so much towards the end though, as Novak Djokovic was reduced to tears and left the stadium wiping his eyes. Novak, who was the strongest contender to win the gold that has eluded him in his illustrious career couldn’t manage the raw power that the 2009 US Open champion produced.
