Two Fan-Favorite Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Organizations Could Return in 2021

The world of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has been a groundbreaking title in the gaming and eSports industry. It has also delivered a ton of controversy in its competitive sphere, from broken boosts to match-fixing scandal, and blatant hacking.
Two major organizations stepped away from the title for their own particular reasons in the yesteryears. It led to much outcry in the community, although there was nothing that could have been.
It is one thing to lose a fan favorite player, but to lose a star-studded roster along with a beloved organization is a whole another. However, it looks like the two giants of the game in SK Gaming and iBUYPOWER are looking to make a comeback in 2021.

Cryptic tweets hinting at a return to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
SK Gaming disbanded its Counter-Strike roster in 2018 in favor of pursuing League of Legends. Meanwhile, iBUYPOWER infamously served an elongated ban back in 2014, following match-fixing allegations. This led to professional players of the team exiting the professional Counter-Strike eco-system in favor of other titles.
This led to much controversy and uproar in the community, as two fan-favorite organizations unceremoniously quit the game. However, all that will change as these organizations have once again resurfaced on the internet with hints of their own.

SK Gaming dropped a tweet on Feb 17, suggesting that fans of the modern era would want to see them return to Counter-Strike. The tweet that the organization shared is in Portuguese, however, it directly translates (as per Google Translate) to the following,
“Today’s young people only want one thing: SK BACK IN CS: GO.”

The infamous organization suffered a ban after a match-fixing incident that took place in 2014. This led to Valve’s intervention, and it handed out permanent bans to the entire professional roster and the organization.
It would be interesting to see what route the organization will take if it follows up on making the return. It can very well build yet another North American roster like its yesteryears, or it can venture beyond and build a mixed team of players from different regions.

Major third-party tournament organizations like ESL have already unbanned the team. However, will Valve change its stance against the organization in 2021? That is a lingering question that still remains unanswered.
