Surfing is a sport that transcends all barriers and can connect with everybody. In recent times, more and more celebrities can be seen taking up the sport. One such world-renowned actor is the Marvel franchise’s God of Thunder Chris Hemsworth. The Australian has been part of some blockbuster movie franchises like The Avengers and Extraction. However, behind his heroic roles, Thor is also a man of the waves, a true surfing enthusiast. Hemsworth’s passion for the sport was on display as the actor marked his monumental 40th birthday on August 11th by undertaking a sun-drenched surf session with his equally talented brother, actor Liam Hemsworth, and former Championship Tour competitor, Owen Wright.

The actor has even befriended surf legend Kelly Slater over their shared love for the sport. But Slater isn’t the only one. As Hemsworth celebrated his milestone birthday in the coastal haven of Byron Bay, another former professional surfer wished the God of Thunder in his own style.

Ex-pro surfer wishes Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth’s journey from the big screen to surfing has made him a lot of friends that include several elite wave riders. So, as Thor turned 40, former pro-CT surfer and now EDM DJ Paul Fisher wished his fellow surf lover with a throwback video on Instagram.

Fisher, who is also a Grammy-nominated artist, uploaded a compilation of their recent trip to Bali, which highlighted their camaraderie and their shared passion for the sea.

According to a Surfer report, the clip also features a candid moment where Hemsworth confesses, “Mate, I should really stop drinking coffee. It makes me too f*ckin’ panicked.” 

Fisher accompanied the video with a toast to their friendship by captioning the Instagram post, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRAAAA LOVE YOU LONG TIME. HERE’S TO MANY MORE LAUGHS MATE @chrishemsworth.” Hemsworth has been an avid surfer since his early days. In the past, Hemsworth has admitted that while there exist a number of horrible addictions, he considers himself lucky that he is obsessed with surfing.

Looking back at his life, Hemsworth claimed that since he did not have much of a social life in high school, surfing was his escape. Whenever he would get time, he would go out to the sea or watch movies. He believes that surfing helped him keep out of trouble during those early days. However, Hemsworth isn’t the only surf lover in Hollywood. In recent times, a number of Hollywood A-Listers have been displaying their love for surfing.

Over the years, a number of celebrities have been snapped while surfing on beaches. While some do it for fun, others are a little more passionate about the sport. Kourtney Kardashian, Simon Baker, Hilary Duff, and Jennifer Aniston are all known to surf every now and then. While celebrities like Matthew McConaughey are known to be avid surfers. In fact, he even played a surfer in his 2008 movie, Surfer, Dude. More recently, surf sensation Griffin Colapinto revealed that the legendary actor psyched him up just before a contest in Hawaii. Jonah Hill is another celebrity who can be often seen on the waves.
