When it comes to collegiate wrestling, few names can match up to the dominant legacy of the Penn State Nittany Lions. Over the decades, the NLWC wrestlers have carved out a loyal fanbase thanks to their illustrious achievements. With the Penn State wrestling squad on a 9-match winning streak once again, the Bryce Jordan Center was lit with former stars who helped the school lift the national title ten years ago.

Last night, the Penn State decimated Rutgers 35-3. While wrestlers like Aaron Brooks and Beau Bartlett awed attendees at the BJC, the 2014 NCAA champion team was bestowed with thundering applause. Names like Nico Megaludis and David Taylor once again thundered across Penn State’s walls as the 10th anniversary of their team win spread its nostalgia.

Captioned “2014 National Champions“, the image shows several members of the 2013-14 roster beaming broadly as the crowd cheered for the former NLWC wrestlers. Accompanied by the Penn State mascot, the likes of Cody Law and Caleb Livingston can be seen standing shoulder to shoulder with their comrades as “This is Penn State, Wrestling lives here” signs adorned the stands, underscoring how everyone seen in the image contributed to NLWC’s heritage in their own special ways.

The old-schoolers were only trumped by the NLWC wrestlers’ performance from last night, as Rutgers athletes found it difficult as expected to edge past their Big Ten opponents. The 2014 squad racked up 109.5 points on their way to the national title, and the current squad looks more than capable of recreating the feat with their stellar performance last night as well.
