He is so smitten by the adorable Labrador that he even has a dedicated Instagram page for him. The UFC commentator may be close to adding another canine friend to his family after playing on his wife and daughters, as he disclosed country singer Charles Wesley Godwin on episode #2085 of the JRE podcast.

Joe Rogan seemingly emotionally manipulated his family into adopting a puppy

Joe Rogan and Godwin were discussing the impacts of the outsourcing of manufacturing jobs from the Rust Belt of the country and how that has led to the collapse of many rural communities in America that were built around these jobs.

During this discussion, the Texas resident was reminded of filmmaker Michael Moore‘s 1989 documentary, ‘Roger & Me’, which took a peek into the effects of General Motors closing its factory in his hometown of Flint, Michigan, and was haunted by one particular lady who sold rabbits.“One of the saddest thing is a lady that had a sign that said ‘Bunny for pets or food’. Yeah, like you want to commit to selling bunnies as a pet,” he said.

While discussing this, the podcast host recalled that his producer, Young Jamie was adopting a French bulldog, and was trying to get Rogan to adopt one too. The 56-year-old told his guest that while he had not made a decision yet he had sent a video of the puppy to his daughters and wife, joking that that means he may already own another dog as they are sure to fall in love with the puppy.

“If it’s a, you know, imagine that little puppy we’re showing; Jamie’s getting a puppy, a French Bulldog and Jamie’s trying to con me into taking one of them. It might have worked. I did a dirty trick. I sent a video of this puppy to all my daughters and my wife. So we might have a puppy,” he said and continued talking about the adverse impacts of jobs being outsourced from American shores.

This prompted the singer to recount the hard life of his coal miner father in his native rural community of Marshalltown, West Virginia, and how the industry had changed drastically over the years.

Rogan shocked at the proportions of modern coal mines

Godwin told Rogan about how the coal mines had changed over the years. He revealed that when his father was a miner from the 1970s to the 90s, the mines were quite unsafe with his father having been in multiple cave-ins during his career. Now, on the other hand, the mines were very different, some stretching a hundred miles like “underground cities”.

“My dad started in, he was born in ’53, so he just started in the early ’70s… So he was at that unique time where there was still some of that old-time stuff. And then, you know, it was transitioning into the modern-day mines, you know, today, where it’s just underground cities,” he told a shocked Joe Rogan.
