In the co-main event of UFC 252, held at the Apex in Las Vegas, the fight took an unexpected turn as Vera (16-6-1) capitalized on a compromised O’Malley (12-1), securing a stoppage at 4:40 of Round 1. Despite injuring his right leg when Vera checked a kick, the 25-year-old O’Malley showed incredible resilience by continuing to fight. However, his determination was short-lived as he stumbled off a clinch and ended up on his back. Vera seized the opportunity, leaping in to gain the top position and delivering a brutal series of forearms and punches. Referee Herb Dean, likely considering O’Malley’s injury, swiftly intervened to wave off the fight.
