Max Holloway is unbeaten for years in the featherweight division and he bounced back from the loss to Dustin Poirier at lightweight division with an emphatic win over Frankie Edgar. On the other hand, Alexander Volkanovski is coming off impressive wins over Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes. Both fighters like to control the fight and puts a high pace on their opponent. However, it’s going to Holloway’s endurance, boxing, heavy forward pressure against Alexander’s pressure and power. It’s a difficult one to break down. In a recent interview with ScoreMMA, when asked to predict the title fight between Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski, Stephen Thompson said:

“Both are very good fighters. I think Max is going to use his reach to keep him at bay. It’s very difficult to take down max. But his opponent has got that one-punch power. But I think Max Holloway is gonna out finesse him.”

Wonderboy also believes that Holloway’s experience is going to play a factor and he will ultimately overcome Volkanovski.

“He just fought a guy just like him. Edgar is a better wrestler and a more diverse fighter. Volkanovski is pretty quick in and out, but I think Max is gonna keep him at bay, stop the takedown and put it on.” continued Wonderboy.

UFC lightweight, Kevin Lee is very sure about his pick in this fight as he goes with the pride of Hawai on this one.

Former Bellator and ONE champion, Ben Askren also favors Holloway at UFC 245. ” I think Holloway is going to be too much. He is really good,” said Askren.

Urijah Faber, who is also going to be on the card facing Petr Yan, thinks Holloway is the better fighter overall. Faber stated: 

“Volkanovski is another guy who has been grinding. But Holloway got that output. I feel like he lives in that fight life. I think Volkanovski is tough, but I think Max is the better fighter.”

UFC welterweight, Geoff Neal is also leaning towards the reigning champion. He does believe that Volkanovski will try to knock out Holloway, but he does not see it happening. He believes Holloway wins the fight via decision. Neal stated:

“Max is probably going to win the first round, maybe the second and third will go to Volkanovski. But Max is going to pull out the championship rounds and get the decision.”
