Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone will face each other at UFC 246 on Jan. 18 inside T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas. Various UFC fighters revealed their favourite in the lead up to Conor vs Cowboy during an interaction with BT Sports. Here’s what they had to say:
Jon Jones picks between Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone
Jon Jones, in a recent media interaction, revealed his favorite fighter ahead of the anticipated match between Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone.
“Cowboy Cerrone and I have always had somewhat of a connection, and I am pulling for him.”
Jon Jones looked confident about Cerrone coming out victorious in the match and showed his support towards the UFC veteran.
“Oh Man, I am really happy for Cowboy Cerrone. Being an Albuquerque fighter too, he’s got such a huge opportunity. And you know.”
Both the fighters fight out of Albuquerque, and Jones showed support towards Cerrone, who is from his homeland. However, he did not count out Conor McGregor and spoke about his skills inside the octagon.
“And at the same time, Conor McGregor, I love everything that he is doing for the sport. Such a great businessman. And he’s got so much awareness about the sport.”
Jones did not turn away from complimenting McGregor of what he is due. He appreciated McGregor’s business acumen and his contribution to the sport. However, he did not have one single favorite for the fight.
“May the best man win,” Jones concluded.
Former featherweight champion Max Holloway
“I am excited. I am excited because I just wanna see what Conor shows up. We gotta find out what Conor shows up and it would go from there. I am excited Conor is back, I hope he keeps his mind straight, everything straight. Even his personal life, I hope he figures it out, he goes out there and proves to the world.”
Colby Covington Mocks Conor McGregor
“I am going (for) Cowboy. I think that Conor has cashed out, he’s made all that money, and let’s be honest, if you guys didn’t that online video, he couldn’t even knock an old man from the stool in the bar. How’s he gonna knock out Cowboy.”
Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman
“I see a lot of people riding Cowboy off like he is mister wash. Because he’s won some and lost some. But Cowboy is a very dangerous fight for Conor. And you know I think in a bit of a Conor kind of underestimated him in a sense. I know Conor is a professional, and he’s gonna come prepared, but you know he’s underestimated an opponent before, and he paid for it. I think in a sense, he’s kind of underestimated Cowboy. And you have seen before when you light a fire in Cowboy, he’s gonna get going. So I think it’s a good good good fight but I am expecting Cowboy to respond.”
Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski
“Umm, I will say Conor will take that one out. I think, look I have got a lot of respect for Cowboy, but I think it’s a good match-up for Conor. I think Conor finds that chin.”
I low-key like Dana White and his decisions, but that doesn't mean I am not a fan of super fights. Always up for a chat related to UFC, Nikhil is a passionate photographer and storyteller.
