UFC 247: Valentina Shevchenko Dominates Katlyn Chookagain, Defends UFC Flyweight Title

In yet another fight dominated by her, Women’s Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko successfully defended her title against Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 247.

Despite being underhanded in terms of reach, Valentina Shevchenko brought in her range and steadfast composure to bog down yet another opponent.

The fight ended at 1:03 of the third round with Shevchenko bagging the win by TKO. While Katlyn was unable to cause any sort of damage to the champion, her sheer will was the only thing that kept her going till the third round.

The fight started with Katlyn trying to get into Valentina’s head, unsuccessfully throwing strikes at Shevchenko. Meanwhile, Valentina employed her staple strategy of waiting for the opponent to provide even a split-second’s worth of room.

Goddess of War: Valentina Shevchenko

Valentina appeared to fight like a Goddess of War, appearing calm and composed, yet being ferociously explosive as soon as the opportunity presented itself.

All three rounds ended with both fighters on ground, Valentina on top of Katlyn. The first round ended with Valentina Shevchenko managing to deliver a devastating elbow just above Katlyn’s left eyebrow, causing an excessive outflow of blood. Katlyn had her legs tightly wrapped around Valentina, providing negligible wiggle-room.

The second round saw a similar format, with Valentina landing a perfect spinning kick right to Katlyn’s jaw. The round ended in a similar ground position, yet this time around, Valentina used her forearm to dock Katlyn’s chin, rendering her neck immovable.

The third round saw Valentina takedown Katlyn yet gain. Only this time, she ensured Katlyn’s legs were anywhere but around her. A ground-and-pound session ensued, and the referee inevitably called the match to a halt, with Valentina emerging victorious.

“I Train Harder, so the Fights are Easier.”: Shevchenko

In the post-fight interview, Valentina was asked how he manages to make the fight seem easy. She replied, “I train harder, so the fights are easier.”

Valentina Shevchenko has shown consistency at a completely different level. The way she moves and fights often makes it appear as though her body is pure muscle. This can be the only possible explanation for her biggest asset, her speed.

Valentina moves faster than the speed of light as soon as an opportunity presents itself, as was seen in tonight’s fight. That coupled with her calm composure add up to for a deadly opponent who is arguably indestructible.

How hard she trains is clearly visible with the range she offers. She overpowered Katlyn while standing and on ground, with picture-perfect precision for strikes and extremely dominating takedowns.

Undoubtedly one of the best martial artists ever, Valentina Shevchenko carries on to set the bar for fighters way above than where it is today.
