WATCH: Valentina Shevchenko Cuts Katlyn Chookagian With a Devastating Elbow

The UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko went toe to toe with Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 247.  The flyweight queen has been wrecking all of her opponents dominantly. She quickly made Katlyn realize that it is not going to be any different for her.

Katlyn Chookagian was able to connect some of her leg kicks early in round one. But it did not take much for the champion to figure out the range. When Katlyn tried to move in on Shevchenko, she was quickly countered with a precisely timed spinning back fist.

Shevchenko continued to find her range with the combinations. She used a two punch combo followed by a leg kick to establish distance. Her strikes were way more effective than the challenger.

Valentina Shevchenko Establishes Her Dominance

Eventually, Valentina Shevchenko took down Katlyn Chookagian and dominated her there. While laying on top of Chookagian, she landed a nasty elbow that cut Chookagian instantly.

The sounding of the siren saved Chookagian from any further damage. It helped her continue to the next round. However, Shevchenko would go on to dominate the fight.

Shevchenko made the challenger pay for every move the challenger made. The champion was smooth with her technique with no telegraphing. Katlyn Chookagian was a victim of two beautifully placed kicks. One of them being the axe kick and the other one was a spinning back kick to the body.

When Katlyn tried to pull guard, Valentina took her down. eventually, she secured a crucifix and started to land heavy strikes. The referee was forced to step in and call off the fight. Hence, preventing Katlyn from taking any further damage.

Shevchenko looks unbeatable at flyweight. She is levels above the competition. Fighting Amanda Nunes in a trilogy seems to be a viable option but she insists that she is not done at flyweight yet.
